Oliver was born in an old farm house. 1875-1896 little is known of this period. in 1897 Oliver began to court Emma Peters. He worked as a hired hand for Jon Schmidt a local farmer. he wore a neat mustache. Proposed marriage when 24.
Attended Ben Salem Church founded by the Peters-Rehig family. The Children attended Dinkey Memorial Church of Ashfield.
1906/7 bought the old Harter farm. $1200 with 49 acres. Money lent by Amadus Ziegler.
1908 Oliver worked at a railroad repair shop at Packerton. He retired from the Railroad around 1928 to concentrate on farming, especially poultry and egg production.
