bullet  General Notes:

Traveled from Lithuania to Antwerp, Belgium where he boarded the ship S.S. Lapland. He arrived in New York on April 2, 1913 at Ellis Island under the name Antanas Padidekas (spelling by government offical) family name was Padelskas.
The manifest of the S.S. Lapland page 489 line 17 showed Anthony as having $25 in his pocket, his passage was paid for my his cousin, Barney Petraitis, and he was on his way to Granby Connecticut.
His Declaration of Intention was filed by him 14 Feb 1931 and his Petition for Citizenship was filed on 2 Jun 1933.

The Farm on South Main Street in East Granby was originally built by the Thompson Family in 1759 with the new additon built in 1850. There is a partial tombstone for Edward Thompson in the basement of the house. There was not date on it as it had broken off above it. Joe Padelskas said that he remembers the stone being used as a step. We have no idea when it may have gotten to the farm or how but it seems as if it was before Anthony bought the farm in the 1920's. Before the 1938 hurricane Anthony's son's Joseph and Leon had found an old graveyard up on the ridge behind the farm. They didn't record the names or dates on the graves and soon thereafter the stones dissapeared. According to the Historical Society in East Granby, it was a family that died of small-pox.

Anthony raised tobacco for cigar wrappers. They also had cows, pigs and chickens.
