rdrdbrdrw10 rdrdbrdrw10 ntblWillard B. , Blocker . Obituaryntbl Willard B. Blocker, 94, of 123 North 4th St., Lehighton passed away December 23rd at St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill, Pa. He was the husband of Margaret C. Thomas Blocker. They were married for 66 years this past Sept. 28th. Born in Lehighton, he was a son of the late Elmer & Ella Bryfogle Blocker. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a Railroad Engineer for The Lehigh Valley Railroad and later worked in the same capacity for Conrail. In his spare time, he was a self employed coal delivery person, and manufactured Popcorn & Candy Apple's . He served our country with the US Army during WWII with the 25th Infantry Division obtaining the rank of Tech 4 during the Asiatic Pacific Theater of Operations. He received 3 bronze stars for his participation in the battles of Guadalcanal, Northern Solomon's, & Luzon. He was a member of Salem Bible Fellowship Church, Lehighton, The 25th Infantry Division Association, and was a Life Member of Lehigh Fire Co. #1 Lehighton. He enjoyed spending time with his family and keeping busy working. Surviving in addition to his wife are 2 daughters, Linda M. wife of Joseph Rothschild of Elkins Park, Pa., Diane M. wife of Edward Tress of North Wales, Pa., 2 sons, Gary W. Blocker & his wife Linda of Lehighton, John E. Blocker & his wife Darlene of Walnutport, 2 brothers, Ernest Blocker of Lehighton, Elwood Blocker & his wife Mary Ann of Lehighton, 10 Grandchildren, 4 Great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by 3 sisters, Matrona Smith, Thelma Miller, Charlotte Solt, & 3 brothers, Donald, Richard, & Ronald. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 27th at 11:30 a.m. at Salem Bible Fellowship Church, 1105 Fredericks Grove Rd., Lehighton with the Reverend Robert Johnson officiating. Call 10-11:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. The interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the church at 18235. Ernest married Dorothy Gerber, daughter of Charles Adam Gerber and Minnie Esther Wehr. (Dorothy Gerber was born on Nov 14, 1925 and died on Jan 30, 2010 in Lehighton, Carbon Co, Pennsylvania.)
